Concerning children and guns, a little bit more parenting paranoia is needed.
Half of parents in the U.S. have guns, and 98% of them do not lock them up. Most parents store their guns loaded or along with the ammo.
Boys, primarily, commit homicide and suicide with guns. “Boys” know where the guns are. Yet children are more llikely to drown in a home swimming pool than be shot with a gun, intentionally or accidentally.
In an average year, the number of children who die from being shot is as follows: Japan, 0; Britain, 20; Germany, 60; France, 110; Canada, 150; United States, 5,300.
